Social Media/Communications

I worked for years in communications and have often been an early adopter of technology, although with the explosion in available spaces I've curbed those tendencies to try every new thing that comes along. As I tell my kids (who remain unimpressed), I was chatting on bulletin board systems back when the text crawled painfully up the screen One. Line. At. A. Time. because I was on a 300-baud dial-up modem.

Me in other spaces:
  • Twitter @BarbChamberlain: Where I share the most content/information, most of it about transportation
  • Mastodon @BarbChamberlain@toot.community: Just started in 2022 and I don't yet really know how I'm going to be present in that space
  • LinkedIn: I don't accept invitations to connect from people I haven't actually worked with in some way
  • Facebook: I don't accept friend invitations with very rare exceptions; you're welcome to follow my profile to see the things I post publicly, which is apt to include links to blog posts, recipes, and an occasional article or poem I want to share

I didn't actually write that often here about social media--even when I was working in communications I was more apt to post that kind of thing as a guest on other blogs, and sometimes wrote posts that ran in more than one space. Since technology definitely makes up part of my life (as in, pretty much every waking moment) I thought I'd make it an archive category here and also capture posts in which I've blogged about my blog itself. It includes posts written in my work role when I've deployed social media as a tool to mobilize and activate people.
